How to Replace a Coil Pack

A faulty spark on the ignition system of your car may be tracked down to an ignition coil. When this happens, the engine misses, stalls or even refuses to start. Weaken windings inside a coil eventually break, creating resistance for the spark going through them. Unfortunately, you cannot replace the windings, but you can replace the faulty coil, or coil pack.

Attentions when install the ignition coil      

1. Vehicle voltage shall be around 12V~13.5V

2. Engine must flameout when replace the ignition coil

3. Check the carbon deposition of the spark plug, better both replace the ignition coil and the spark plug.

4. Check the situation of the high voltage cable, electric leakage is not allowed.

5. The coil plug shall be firmly connected, won’t get loose or drop off.

6. The high voltage plug of the coil shall be connected to the spark plug on the cylinder cover of  the engine.

Install the New Coil Pack

1. Set the new coil pack in place, and start the mounting bolts by hand to avoid thread damage.

2. Tighten the mounting bolts, using the ratchet and socket.

3. Apply dielectric grease to the wire connector inside the spark-plug wire boots, using a standard screwdriver.

4. Plug the spark plug wires on the coil pack assembly, making sure you plug them on the correct coil towers.

5. Plug the wiring harness on the coil pack assembly.

6. Lower the vehicle if you had to raise it.

7. Install the air cleaner assembly, using the wrench or standard screwdriver, if you had to remove it.

8. Connect the ground battery cable, using the wrench.
